The brim measures at 37/8" in the front/back and 31/2" on the sides. It weighs 3.5 ounces. The Tilley Airflo provides exceptional ventilation. The Fabric of the Hat has a UPF Rating of 50+ and has been tested to block 98 percent of UVA/UVB Radiation. It has a 3/4" ventilating area at the top of the crown to move warm air out and bring cool air in. An excellent hat to safeguard you from the sun while gardening, bird watching, fishing, hiking, or wherever else your active way of living may take you. The Tilley Hat fits more conveniently than other hats. It's developed to be worn low on your head and a little loose. It needs to be hung on by gravity, not by painful pressure on your forehead! For the appropriate fit, you must have the ability to easily place 2 fingers, flat, in between the middle of your forehead and the front of the Hat. The Hat should be loose enough that you can rotate it to the left and right, and lift it up and down, without rubbing on your forehead. When there's no breeze, the Tilley Hat rests easily on your head, barely touching your forehead. You'll appreciate this on a hot, muggy day. When there's a mild breeze, place the knotted part of the adjustable, tuckaway, essentially unnoticeable wind cord behind your head. When it's windy, use the chin cord, too. Size 71/4.
