This charming antique brooch was sculpted in the 1800s. It's surprisingly openwork design features 2 pheasants or birds in the middle of an amazing abundance of ivy leaves and fragile vines that swirl around a stylish frame. The mossy foliage background makes this a fantastic 3 dimensional brooch. I can only think of the hours of work and stable hands it need to have required to finish with such a genuinely outstanding one of a kind piece of art. A grand gallery piece worth every penny. Measures 2" x 1.8" x 1/4". Condition: The pin is turned up a little at the end, but it does not snag and is the only defect to the entire piece. When I initially saw the brooch I thought one of the legs was broken off, just to discover it at the back, hiding from the front view.
