An extremely good bound document printed on heavy stock paper from Abbott Laboratories in 1939. Found in the estate materials of a med technician who worked in that age. An unusual piece for the collector of vintage medical publications and books. Photos of the period from these artists usually cost anywhere from $10 to $30 on their own. SEARCH AND RESEARCH-- A Pictorial Portfolio of Scenes and Characters in the Drama of Medicine and Medical Progess-- Abbott Laboratories-- published 1939. "TWO ARTISTS, one with the electronic camera and one with the brush, right here, recreate from the materials gathered by painstaking research, events in mankind's continuous struggle against the forces of death, discomfort and disease. 9 pages of pictures, each page has an inscription on the back descripting a clinical reference to the image. Helen of Troy, Hippocrates, Paracelsus, Hugh of Lucca, Jean Astruc, Ther Army of Charles VIII of France, Theodoric of Cervia, Louis Pasteur, Frederick P. Henry. Last two pages not pictured due to photo limitation. 4 pages of illustrations, each page likewise has an inscription on the back of the page. James Lind, Jacques Cartier, Roger (Salernitan doctor), Antonj van Leeuwenhoek. Pierre Brissaud (23 December 1885-- 1964) was a French Art Deco painter, engraver, and illustrator whose father was Docteur Edouard Brissaud, a student of Docteur Charcot. He was born in Paris and trained at the cole des Beaux-Arts and Atelier Fernand Cormon in Montmartre, Paris. Brissaud's images appeared in Vogue after it bought Bon Ton in 1925, as well as House & Garden and Fortune, and in books like Madame Bovary, Manon Lescaut, Mmoires de Saint-Simon, the autobiographical novels of Anatole France, Two gentlemen of Verona and many others. VALENTINO SARRA (1903-1982) was the most successful Twentieth Century Advertising Photographer of them all - popularity, cash, impact, workplaces in New York, Chicago and Hollywood, with a comprehensive Movie business to boot.
