1961 Fender Champ 5F1
Location:
Waterford, MI
Description:
You know what this is if you’re looking at it. If not just know that this is the tweed champ everyone talks about when they’re talking about this particular amp. This is the sought after narrow panel 5F1 Champ and this one hails from early 1961. Fender had largely switched to the Brownface era by this time but Leo Fender kept this Champ in production until about 1964 when the blackface version hit the market. This one obviously retains its beautiful and vibe’d out tweed. The circuit is untouched besides a grounded plug installed at some point. The speaker has also been swapped with a Jensen C8R but the original will be included. The handle is also a repro bevy the originals tended to rot.The original Oxford speaker had a rip that was repaired using the toilet paper and Elmer’s glue method. I’m not sure how it sounds but I’d recommend a recone. There is continuity though so that’s nice. The Champ has its original caps and such but definitely sounds wonderful. I’d recommend a cap job but I’ll let you decide. The amp certainly sounds great as it sits.Open to cash or local trade. Open to shipping on your dime.
